Reading at home challenge

Love to Read, Read to Succeed!

This is our slogan, strap line, call it what you will but the research evidence is clear: children who LOVE to read can achieve higher academically, can follow their interests, have a spark for knowledge and will always have a place to escape to for relaxation and calm. See our English curriculum page for more details.

This year we want to encourage a passion for reading. Don't wade through huge books if it is not for you. If it is for you - ooh the places you will go! Perhaps you prefer graphic novels (stories told through pictures); science magazines or audio books. Listen...read... grow your knowledge, your vocabulary and your ability to escape into a different world.

Use your 'Book Bingo' to help remind you of the breadth of what is out there for you. Poems, non-fiction, plays, fiction.

We are not going to set a specific task each week but will check-in with you to see how you are getting on. You can use your Book Bingo and your Reading Journals to help record your reading adventures. Remember, our books are colour coded to guide you. Don't let this stop you from reading home books.

Try to read every day. Challenge yourself to become someone who loves to read!

Book Bingo Challenge - the levels begin here at lime/green, then brown, grey, blue, red and finally black.
