Bishop MonktonC of E Primary School

Here at Bishop Monkton Primary, we want our pupils to become competent and confident mathematicians.  We strive to embed the skills and processes necessary to enable pupils to use and apply their mathematics learning in a variety of contexts.  By providing opportunities for children to build a conceptual understanding, develop their basic skills, fluency and recall, before applying their knowledge to everyday problems and challenges, we aim to develop pupils’ enjoyment of mathematics.  Promoting mathematical talk enables children to articulate and discuss their thinking and reasoning,  developing them as independent learners. Our pupils will leave Key Stage 2 prepared for the next step in their mathematical education.

Maths Information Evening - How To Support Your Child With Maths At Home - March 11th 2019

"I really enjoyed tonight. It was good to see the pupils in action, showing off their maths skills. I was surprised how many of them wanted to have a go at a Year 6 SATS paper....they must be mad! "😊

"It was nice to see what work the children do in class. It's not like it was when I was at school."

"I enjoyed the event. It was lovely to see all the kids work so hard . Who said Maths is boring?" 😃

"This was such a great event. I've got some great ideas for supporting my child with their learning. Thank you for inviting us!" 😀
